Boneyard Alaska Fossil ivory stylized Matau hook. It is my own handcrafted interpretation, not a traditional Māori-made piece rather a piece of the Ice Age. Fully finished front and back so you can wear it either way.
I value the individuality of working with ancient material: each piece becomes a wearable containing "Mammoth Magic". This woolly mammoth ivory pendant carries that one-of-a-kind character, a small connection to the natural world and its much longer history.
I work with fossil ivory sourced by The Boneyard Alaska, recovered from the frozen ground near Fairbanks. This material comes from extinct woolly mammoths, dating 12,000–40,000 years old. No modern animals are harmed in its sourcing.

Enjoy it! Keep dry as ivory doesn't like being wet. Use a clean dry polishing cloth to buff. Treat ivory jewelry like a fine gem or fossil. No soaps or detergents. If you have any other care questions let me know. Thank you, Kristin
