This Christian cross pendant is carved from the outer layer, or “bark,” of a Woolly Mammoth tusk. Its fossil ivory is from material dating 12,000–40,000 years old, and the natural grain, Schreger's, color variation, and turquoise-blue staining remain part of its story.
I let the material guide the form, so every cross develops its own character. The finished piece has a warm, solid presence, with a silver bale and a one-of-a-kind surface that carries the quiet history of the Ice Age.
The fossil ivory was sourced from The Boneyard Alaska, where the Reeves family discovers and gathers fossil materials. It comes from an extinct Ice Age animal, and no modern animals were harmed. This piece is crafted by Kristin R Park at Ice Age Treasures.
Dimensions: 1-3/4" × 1-1/4"

Enjoy it! Keep dry as ivory doesn't like being wet. Use a clean dry polishing cloth to buff. Treat ivory jewelry like a fine gem or fossil. No soaps or detergents. If you have any other care questions let me know. Thank you, Kristin
