This ivory stopped me the moment I saw the colors it revealed — the vivianite staining had pooled into what looks exactly like a mountain lake nestled in a rugged landscape. The darker ivory bark reads like ridgelines and rocky terrain, and that deep, mineral blue sits in the low point of the piece the way still water collects in a valley. It reminded me immediately of the Boneyard Alaska — the way the land up there holds its secrets quietly, shaped by forces far older than any of us.

Fossil ivory recovered from The Boneyard Alaska's ancient permafrost deposits where it rested for over 40,000 years. The vivianite blue is entirely natural — a mineral transformation that occurs over millennia when ivory comes into contact with iron-rich groundwater. No two pieces stain the same way, which is what makes this one so striking.

I hand formed the cabochon to follow the natural contours of the bark, letting the landscape speak for itself. The bail is sterling silver, meant to complement the organic shape of the stone without competing with it. The result is a pendant that feels solid and grounded in the hand — the kind of piece that carries real presence. You will experience "Mammoth Magic" when you hold it.

One of a kind. Ethically sourced fossil ivory from an extinct Ice Age animal. No modern animals harmed.

Care Instructions

Enjoy it! Keep dry as ivory doesn't like being wet. Use a clean dry polishing cloth to buff. Treat ivory jewelry like a fine gem or fossil. No soaps or detergents. If you have any other care questions let me know. Thank you, Kristin
