The mammoth tusk bark layer on this fossil ivory fragment is alive with color — deep blues and browns from heavy natural vivianite mineralization that formed over thousands of years in the permafrost. Time, pressure, and the earth doing what it does.
I shaped this by hand, and finished it with a mid century worn faceted crystal bead and sterling silver flourish as the bale.
This is a raw, shaped piece. The bark layer is the star — full of natural character, textured, dimensional, and genuinely one of a kind. No two fossil ivory pieces ever look the same, and this one is particularly vibrant as I carefully saved the outer bark layer with the vivianite blue mineralization.
All fossil ivory is sourced by my brother John Reeves and the Reeves family at The Boneyard Alaska from ancient permafrost deposits in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is genuine Ice Age fossil ivory from extinct Woolly Mammoths — no modern animals are harmed. Each piece comes with provenance documentation.

Enjoy it! Keep dry as ivory doesn't like being wet. Use a clean dry polishing cloth to buff. Treat ivory jewelry like a fine gem or fossil. No soaps or detergents. If you have any other care questions let me know. Thank you, Kristin
