Carved and inked pendant made with Woolly Mammoth ivory discovered at the Boneyard Alaska. I made this out of a tusk shard found at the Boneyard Alaska. Of course we love finding whole specimens but we find much more fragmented or broken smaller pieces which we can't match up to repair. Many times we can find a larger piece of broken tusk or bone and find it's match, often years apart of recovering.

The Boneyard Alaska has become renowned for being a significant paleontological site where thousands of Ice Age fossils have been discovered. Located in Fairbanks Alaska, the site is famous for its extensive collection of woolly mammoth tusks, bones, and other Megafauna animal remains, including steppe bison, the Harington horse (Haringtonhippus), short faced bear and saber toothed cats. Scientific and carbon dating studies on material discovered at the Boneyard Alaska continues to peak the interest of Paleontologists and Scientists worldwide.

Care Instructions

Enjoy it! Treat like a fine gemstone and fossil. Wooly Mammoth Ivory is porous and will naturally absorb your body oils which is a benefit as it is nourishing and enriches colors in ivory and creates a special unity. Handling and rubbing your ivory is also calming and meditative and inspiring. Avoid water and soaps and handle with care.
